HOW DO I GET STARTED WITH TUTORING?

We recommend booking an initial consultation. Students and their families typically value forming an individualized plan with us based on their target score.

However, you may also skip the consultation and book a tutoring appointment.

HOW DO I GET STARTED WITH MOCK INTERVIEWS?

Book a mock interview. We offer both traditional and MMI (multi-mini interview) formats. We recommend starting with 1-hour interviews for more frequent feedback, before advancing to 2-hour full-length interviews.

HOW DO I GET STARTED WITH AMCAS APPLICATIONS, OR OTHER ADMISSIONS QUESTIONS?

Contact us at ed@flippedmcat.com with your specific request and we will let you know how we can help as soon as possible.

FAQ

WHAT IS THE “FLIPPED CLASSROOM”?

Traditional lectures, where a teacher presents content, are simply inefficient for covering the MCAT’s large scope. No PowerPoint talk will help you memorize the amino acids.

In a flipped classroom, you first study on your own and struggle through problems. Then, teachers focus on your individual weaknesses by identifying your knowledge gaps and reasoning errors. By reviewing difficult concepts only, teachers help you “correct course” without wasting time on topics you already understand. The result is pure, efficient learning so that you can go back to studying.

IF THE "FLIPPED CLASSROOM" IS SO MUCH BETTER, WHY DOESN’T EVERYONE TEACH THIS WAY?

This method is time-consuming and mentally demanding for the teacher. The teacher must master the content, identify the student’s “sticking points,” and supply the next step. Unlike a traditional lecture, there is no “script” as a crutch – each lesson is inherently tailored to the student’s weaknesses.

We believe the rewards for the student are worth that effort. To meet these high requirements, all our tutors scored 99th percentile on their MCAT and have years of experience.

HOW DOES ONLINE TUTORING COMPARE TO IN-PERSON TUTORING?

Online tutoring provides several advantages that in-person tutoring cannot.

Most importantly, you can access the best teachers. 99th percentile MCAT scorers with years of teaching experience are not common – they are usually busy doctors. Your local market may not have this talent available.

Second, as all MCATs are administered on a computer, questions should be taken and reviewed electronically. Online tutoring and screen sharing results in a smoother interface than in-person tutoring. The technology has been mature for years – Ed has been tutoring online since 2014.
